In honor of Cal Poly State University's annual egg drop competition, where student engineers try to design a package that will help an egg survive a 30-foot fall, we’ve assembled a video gallery of stupid human tricks. We begin with the inventor of Stupid Human Tricks, David Letterman, in a clip from his old Late Night show from the late 80s. This was more mindless fun than scientific experimentation. But to get back on the education track we follow with one of Cal Poly's past competitions, followed by even younger experimenters looking for excuses to skip class. We threw a Rube Goldberg egg-breaking contraption at the end to demonstrate that, yes, engineers are smart, but they can also be show-offs.
