St. Lawrence Seaway Tolls increase in Canada

March 19, 2013
Three percent rise is first increase in five years.

There will be a three per cent increase in St. Lawrence Seaway tolls in Canada for the 2013 shipping season, according to Inchcape Shipping Services (ISS). The increase by The St. Lawrence Seaway Management Corporation will be the first rise in five years and will take effect when the seaway opens on March 22nd, 2013.

The seaway saw a four per cent increase in cargo volume in 2012 to over 39 million tons, which is believed to be a result of new trade patterns and an increase in market share by carriers.
