Since the events of September 11, 2001, ICSC membership grew to more than 1,000 cargo security professionals in all supply chain functions and transportation modes, including those on six continents and 13 countries.
The ICSC-Europe chapter has support from companies such as Estee Lauder, KLM Cargo, Encrypta Products, MRC Investigations, Lucent Technologies and DHL Danzas.
As its founding charter notes, the ICSC seeks to ensure the integrity and security of every shipment through government-industry partnerships; involvement in key legislation; educational conferences, seminars and roundtables; publishing best practices guideline; and certification programs, among other efforts.
ICSC chairman – and vice president of Loss Prevention for Tommy Hilfiger USA, Inc. – notes that, “Terrorism and theft are worldwide problems affecting the security and economies of all countries. What’s needed to better ensure safe and secure commerce everywhere are closely aligned global networks of people, best practices and technologies.”
ICSC expects to form other chapters in Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, Australia and Eastern Asia.
