Dematic Expands into System Maintenance

Dec. 23, 2013
Dematic’s acquisition of Upturn Solutions introduces a "pay as you go" model for maintenance of automated material handling systems.

Dematic has expanded beyond automated systems for manufacturing and distribution into distribution center workflow, asset and inventory management and preventative maintenance with its newly announced acquisition of Upturn Solutions. The acquisition of the Bigfork, Montana-based provider of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) supports Dematic’s strategic mission to improve order fulfillment in the ecommerce, retail, apparel, healthcare, 3PL, food, beverage, parcel and manufacturing industries.

Dematic’s CMMS offering lets users "pay as you go" rather than requiring a large upfront investment.

"Our acquisition of Upturn will allow Dematic to closely integrate and leverage the benefits of a streamlined maintenance management tool with our material handling knowledge at a very affordable price," said John Baysore, president and CEO of Dematic North America.

The transaction was finalized Monday, December 23, 2013. The Bigfork office location will continue operations including research and development, sales and service.
