Amazon’s on a Hiring Spree -- 6,000 New Jobs at its Fulfillment Centers
To meet growing demand, Amazon announced on May 26 that it is hiring for more than 6,000 full-time jobs across its U.S. fulfillment network.. Employees will pick, pack and ship customer orders.
“We’re proud to be creating more than 6,000 full-time positions where employees will interact with state-of-the-art technology as part of their day-to-day roles,” said Mike Roth, Amazon’s vice president of North America operations.
The company employed about 154,100 full-time and part-time employees worldwide at the end of 2014.
Amazon pointed out that hourly employees are eligible for programs like Career Choice, where the company will pre-pay up to 95% of tuition for courses related to in-demand fields, regardless of whether the skills are relevant to a career at Amazon. As part of its Career Choice program, the company offers classes from local community and technical colleges to associates onsite at select U.S. fulfillment centers.
Amazon has more than 50 fulfillment centers in the U.S. The company is hiring in the following communities:
