The 5.4% increase applies to minimum charges, less than truckload (LTL) and truckload (TL) shipments. The over-the-road heavy freight division of UPS, the former Overnite Transportation, was purchased in 2005. It offers a full range of inter-regional and long-haul LTL and TL capabilities throughout the US, Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico and Guam in addition to its cross-border Canadian and Mexican services.
Shippers will be able to process package and LTL shipments through the UPS WorldShip system. WorldShip permits processing of both package and freight shipments with a single application. It permits views of negotiated UPS rates with each shipment and sends Quantum View e-mail notification that includes data on shipment location and expected delivery. The solution will print international shipping and dangerous goods documentation without the need for additional software.

"On January 1, UPS began offering on-time guarantees at no additional charge to customers on the current base UPS Freight tariff for shipments moving within the continental United States."
