DPWN, parent of DHL, recently filed for a patent for its GoGreen concept. The aim of GoGreen is to offer carbon-neutral shipping for DHL products for business and private customers in order to cut carbon dioxide emissions. According to DPWN, all carbon dioxide emissions generated in the transportation of GoGreen small parcels and packages are first calculated and then compensated for in the system. The compensation can be achieved by environmental protection projects and activities.
The carbon management system is comparable to the credit and debit system in financial banking, offsetting carbon dioxide emissions against environmental protection projects.
GoGreen has been reviewed and certified by an independent external certification organization. Customers receive certificates showing the level of reduced emissions.
