The Intermodal Association of North America (IANA) has created a scholarship program to encourage development of freight transportation managers. It granted the first $30,000 scholarship to the University of Denver’s Intermodal Transportation Institute (ITI).

The scholarship marks the start of an IANA effort to increase understanding of intermodal transportation and its role in the global economy. The University of Denver was selected because of its unique graduate program with a strong focus on intermodalism. Michael Wilson, chairman of IANA, presented the scholarship award to George Woodward, president of the ITI Board of Directors, at this week’s Intermodal Expo in Fort Lauderdale.

“This program is an important step to assure that talented students who are enrolled in transportation-related programs receive substantial assistance in reaching their educational goals,” said Wilson. “This program begins a long-term effort to support excellent, market-oriented academic programs. The selection process was careful and thorough, and we congratulate the Intermodal Transportation Institute for winning this scholarship award.”
