In issuing its tonnage and activity report for April 2005, the Georgia Ports Authority announced an 11.7% increase in container tons from the same month a year ago. According to the report, the 130,612 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) exported to Mainland China in 2004 were a 21.3% increase over the prior year.

The Port of Savannah received two new super post-Panamax cranes from Tianjin, China.
