An accident involving a fuel tanker shut down portions of Interstate 95 near Bridgeport, CT, causing the Connecticut Department of Transportation to cancel all oversize and overweight permits and limit access until bridge repairs allowed traffic to begin used the highway.

Within days of a major accident and fire that damaged a bridge on Interstate 95 near Bridgeport, CT, crews had portions of the road back in service. At last report, the road was scheduled to be back in limited service by April first.

The Connecticut Department of Transportation cancelled all previously issued permits for oversize and overweight loads and was not accepting new applications or resubmissions of the earlier permits.
