Under the terms of the new agreement, the Ingram Micro Data Capture/POS Division will support, market and resell Psion Teklogix’ full line of rugged computing solutions which includes a broad range of mobile handheld and vehicle-mounted computers, radio frequency identification (RFID) readers, scanners, voice and printer products, to channel partners throughout the Americas.
The new distribution alliance promises greater operational efficiency, according to Ron Caines, Psion Teklogix’ president of worldwide sales. It expands the company’s reach and provides its current channel partners access to Ingram Micro’s value-added service and financing programs, as well as its entire portfolio of IT products, solutions and services, Caines continued.
Industry analyst firm VDC Research Group, Inc. is predicting continued growth for the automatic data capture industry in the coming years as businesses adopt the technology to increase productivity through greater mobility, speed and accuracy, improve inventory turns, enhance customer interaction and reduce costs. “Demand for mobile, data capture and POS computing solutions is growing–especially within field-intensive verticals such as retail, entertainment, manufacturing and public sector,” said Justin Scopaz, vice president and general manager, Ingram Micro Data Capture/POS Division.
