Elite Carriers adopts Aether MobileMax for wireless communications and tracking
Elite Carriers is phasing out a cellular-based system in favor of MobileMax, Aether's multi-mode wireless communications and tracking solution. The Wausau, Wis.-based fleet plans to equip 100 trucks with Aether's solution over the next two years.
Elite specializes in just-in-time delivery for several high-profile companies in the paper products industry. Although the mid-sized fleet chose to implement a cellular-based solution less than a year ago, it encountered several significant coverage gaps, particularly in critical areas within New Hampshire, New York, and New Jersey.
Elite Carriers tested a number of mobile communications systems, and chose Aether MobileMax for its multi-mode technology. MobileMax switches between land-based and satellite communications without driver or dispatcher intervention to ensure complete coverage.
"Several of our biggest customers have major facilities throughout the Northeast, and we often lost visibility to our loads and were unable to communicate with our drivers," says Tammy Guite, president of Elite Carriers. "We quickly realized how important these systems are for taking care of our business."
MobileMax performed well in Elite’s testing, and the company is confident it will get the coverage and visibility it needs, Guite adds.
