AUSTIN, Texas (January 8, 2003) -- Performance optimization software leader Pavilion Technologies, Inc. today announced the acquisition of the software and related intellectual property assets of BusinessThreads, Inc., an Austin-based business process management solutions firm. Financial terms of the acquisition have not been disclosed.
BusinessThread's technology is a scalable, web-based platform for business process execution. The company's transaction and business-execution engines will be combined with Pavilion's modeling and optimization technology to expand Pavilion's real-time enterprise performance management solutions.
Pavilion's patented, non-linear technology enables the company to deliver the industry's most complete technology package for optimizing the business enterprise. Where once companies relied on retrospective business data to make decisions, Pavilion gives decision makers the ability to use current, real-time information and advanced analytics to simulate and predict the outcome of their decisions. Combined with closed-loop, reactive systems to automatically execute business processes, Pavilion's solutions give decision makers across the enterprise control over the variables that impact profitability.
"The BusinessThreads acquisition will expand Pavilion's strong technology offering and will ensure the company's growth," said Pete Perialas, president and CEO of Pavilion.
The BusinessThreads acquisition enhances Pavilion's delivery of its Real-time Enterprise Optimization (REO*) vision. Pavilion's REO enterprise performance management capabilities combine business strategy with advanced technology -- giving companies the ability to react to business dynamics by ensuring every action is directly tied to strategic goals.
"We have significantly expanded our technology portfolio for enterprise optimization applications with internal development efforts over the last several years," said Perialas. "This acquisition incorporates more than 30 years of software development effort and significantly accelerates our timetable for delivering valuable enterprise performance optimization solutions to our customers."
This holistic offering combines the functionality of business activity monitoring, business rules engines, business process analysis or business intelligence tools, and business process modeling schemes into a seamless, consistent means to quickly respond to changes in the business environment.
Pavilion's technology is configurable and has been successfully adapted across multiple industries, including energy, consumer goods, financial services, chemicals, cement, environmental, pulp and paper and sports.
In addition to the business acquisition, BusinessThreads key principal, David Bolene, has joined Pavilion's staff. Bolene was the former acting-CEO, CTO and co-founder of BusinessThreads and was the original architect of BusinessThreads' technology framework, leading the development team in building the company's business model execution engine. Bolene has more than 20 years of business and software expertise, including management positions with MBA Technologies and MCI Telecommunications. Bolene will work on the integration of the two companies' technologies and developing new solutions for various markets.
Funded by Castletop Capital, Techxas Ventures and other Austin investors, BusinessThreads operated from 1998 to 2002.
