The technology-based transport and supply chain solutions company will become a division of CHEP. “CHEP views and tracks millions of pallet movements through more than 21,000 locations across the US every day,” said Mike Ihlein, CEO of Brambles. “LeanLogistics provides on-demand network optimization solutions to more than 40 major corporations, including many in the fast moving consumer goods sector, with a network in excess of 4,000 transporters,” he added.

Combining CHEP's extensive customer and information base with LeanLogistics' customer network will enable the group to offer services that reduce transport costs and optimize supply chain efficiency, claims Ihlein.

Brambles reported a 19% increase in operating profit (12% in constant currency) to $500.5 million for the six months ended December 31, 2007. Sales increased in the period to $2.110 billion. “This improvement was led by CHEP, which performed well in all regions, in both sales and profit. Overall, CHEP sales were $1.752 billion, an increase of 12% (6% in constant currency) and comparable operating profit was $463.1 million, up by 20% (14% in constant currency),” Ihlein said.
