Supply Chain Insider, Episode 1: From ProMat DX with Raymond's Michael Field

April 27, 2021
In this debut of our new podcast series, we talk with Raymond's Michael Field about the state of the forklift industry, current trends in warehouse automation, and more.

In this first episode of Supply Chain Insider, our new podcast series, we venture into the virtual halls of ProMatDX, the biggest North American trade show for material handling equipment and solutions. The show normally takes place at McCormick Place in Chicago, but thanks to COVID-19's unwelcome presence, the show itself went digital. The upside to a virtual event is it afforded us the opportunity to transform our annual visit with Michael Field, president and CEO of The Raymond Corporation, from an in-person chat to a podcast-able conversation.

In the Q&A that follows, you'll learn how the pandemic has affected companies throughout all levels of the supply chain, and in particular how COVID has impacted Raymond. As part of the Toyota Industries Group, Raymond practices lean manufacturing and uses continuous improvement methodologies throughout its operation, and Field will share how Raymond's workforce has carried on that spirit of continuous improvement, even throughout the pandemic. You'll also discover how automation is shaping the very nature of warehousing, as we invite Field to forecast what the future of material handling will look like in the next few years.
