Honda has teamed up with Briggs Equipment and modified a Yale truck which now features a small lithium-ion battery that partners with the fuel cell to ensure that the battery remains charged.

The battery operates as a normal power unit for all mobility and lift functions, with the hydrogen fuel cell acting as an onboard charger.

While other trucks have used hydrogen fuel it was fossil fuel that provided the power. This new innovation uses a fully integrated system that generates hydrogen from solar power via an on-site electrolyzer.

Briggs Equipment CEO Richard Close points out that with the absence of big lead-acid batteries, maintenance costs will decline while productivity will increase.
