Deeley Harley-Davidson Canada has deployed a transportation management solution from Descartes to reduce resource and customer service costs

Deeley Harley-Davidson Canada, the exclusive Canadian distributor for Harley-Davidson and Buell motorcycles and accessories, has deployed a transportation management system (TMS) solution from Descartes Systems Group to help it reduce resource and customer service costs.

Interfaced to Deeley Harley-Davidson Canada’s weighing and cube system, Descartes’ Pick, Pack and Ship application allows the company to combine its carrier software into one workstation and process. Additionally, Deeley can determine accurate shipping costs, automate bulk mailings and query, and track its shipments. Since implementing the TMS, Deeley has reallocated one resource, resulting in improved efficiency and cost savings.

The TMS provides functionality that enables supply chain order planning, radio frequency (RF) picking, pack verification, returns management, warehouse management and domestic and international shipping.

“The TMS automated our mail and parts and accessories shipping process, freeing up our resources to focus on other areas of our business,” says Stacey Arthur, IT director at Deeley Harley-Davidson Canada. “The application gave us benefits across our shipping department, including mail, transportation and customer service, and the results have translated to hard cost savings and improved customer service.”
