Officially opened on May 10, the new system hub incorporates many technological innovations, including radio frequency scanners for detailing package information and an Origin Data Capture system to make sure all package information is complete before it reaches the facility – whether by air or ground. The company says the new hub has a combined sorting capacity of 9,000 packages per hour.

To aid in speed of movement for international packages, they are inspected for compliance with Customs and other governmental regulatory requirements before being released.

Linking to other UPS international hubs, the Vancouver facility serves the Western U.S. and the Asian Pacific area through Ontario, Calif., and the Eastern U.S., Europe and South America through Louisville, Ky.
