Claiming its weekly service from Asia to New York will provide the industry’s fastest transit times, APL launched its container service through the Suez Canal with eight ships. The President Adams docked in New York. The 903-foot container ship and its seven sister ships will call at New York, Charleston, Savannah, and Norfolk. The ships, ranging from 4,000 to 4,500 twenty-foot-equivalent units, offer four US ports of call vs. the three common with other carriers, said an APL representative.

On the other side of the Canal, the Suez Express connects with India, Vietnam, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Malaysia, and Indonesia.

The port rotation includes Singapore, Colombo, New York, Charleston, Savannah, Norfolk, Jebel Ali, Port Kelang, and Singapore. Transit times include 24 days Singapore to New York and Singapore to Charleston/Savannah, in 24-25 days.
