One benefit of using double-stack technology for cross border trade is increased cargo security. Designed to serve for long-haul movement of general merchandise, both services use special in-bond procedures which should produce faster border transit.

PacerMex NonStop service runs between Chicago and various points in Mexico, including San Luis Potosi, Queretero, and Mexico City. One benefit of the service is that customs clearance comes at a shipment’s final destination, rather than sitting on a truck at the border. With PacerMex NonStop, cargo is available in Mexico City on the sixth morning after it leaves Chicago.

PacerMex Gateway is designed to handle freight in warehouses and distribution centers within the border region. The service provides intermodal delivery between Laredo, TX and Mexico City. In this instance, general merchandise movement is handled with short haul trucking.

“It means that freight forwarders, customs brokers, truckers, intermodal marketing companies, and other logistics providers serving the border region will be able to offer a door-to-door services to their customers all the way to or from Mexico City,” says Tom Shurstad, president of Pacer Stacktrain. The Pacer Web site is www.pacerstack.com.
