The United Van Lines agent distributed more than 25 million Girl Scout cookies to eight locations throughout Connecticut. “This is the first year that the Girl Scouts of Connecticut have attempted a statewide delivery of cookies in one day since the councils throughout Connecticut merged in October 2007,” said a Meyer representative. Handling over one million boxes, the cookies totaled approximately 900,000 pounds.

The Girl Scouts of Connecticut have 3,000 troops, more than 32,000 girl members and over 10,000 adult volunteers involved in cookie sales.

Profits from the cookie sales support many worthwhile programs for the Girl Scouts throughout the year. “The cookie sales are the backbone of all of our programs,” said Bella Casanova, vice president of the Girl Scouts of Connecticut. “It is a tremendous learning process for the girls.”

No word on whether any of the Girl Scouts are considering careers in logistics after witnessing the event, but the massive move of baked goods begs the question, “Got milk?”
