CONNERSVILLE, Ind.—Crown Equipment Corp. is withdrawing an offer to buy the closed Visteon plant in Connersville.
New Bremen, Ohio-based Crown has a machine shop in Connersville, about 70 miles east of Indianapolis.
Mayor Leonard Urban says Crown asked the city not to discuss the reason it withdrew its letter of intent to buy the 1.6 million-sq.-ft. plant. Crown Vice President Randy Niecamp says the company wouldn’t comment on its decision.
Michigan-based Visteon stopped production last December at the factory, which made vehicle heating and cooling systems. The factory once employed more than 3,000 people but had only about 300 workers when it closed.
