The upgraded Model 5200 radio-frequency (RFID) label printer-applicator prints uses thermal/thermal-transfer technology to produce smart labels with text, bar codes and graphics at 203 dpi. As labels are printed, digital information instantly is encoded on thin, ultra-high frequency (UHF) transponders that are embedded in the smart label material. The encoded information is immediately verified by the system.

Weber to Feature RFID Smart Llabel Printer-Applicator that Addresses Gen 2 Standards at NA 2006
Weber Marking Systems will demonstrate its exclusive Model 5200 RFID label printer-applicator, now upgradeable to meet the newest Gen 2 standards for radio frequency identification (RFID), at its NA 2006 booth 2825. The show will take place March 27-30 at the I-X Center in Cleveland.
The Model 5200rfid, which will help meet the latest Gen 2 RFID labeling requirements of major retailers and government agencies, offers a selection of print-encode engines that utilizes thermal/thermal-transfer technology to produce smart labels with text, bar codes and graphics at 203 dpi. As labels are printed, digital information instantly is encoded on thin, ultra-high frequency (UHF) transponders that are embedded in the smart label material.
That encoded information immediately is verified by the system, which then applies the smart label to the top or side a carton or pallet load as it moves by via conveyor. If a label cannot be verified, it is rejected and retained before it can be applied. Labels up to 5x6” can be dispensed at up to 12in./sec. and are applied using the tamp-blow method.
In addition, for companies that already utilize Weber’s existing Model 5200 pressure-sensitive label printer-applicator system, a retrofit kit is available to upgrade existing units into RFID-capable systems.
Weber also will exhibit its full line of labeling and coding solutions, including label printers, applicators and printer-applicators, laser coders, plus associated software and pressure-sensitive labels and RFID smart labels.
