Clear Lam Packaging, Inc., H.J. Heinz Co. and the people of Collinsville, Ill. partnered to create the "World's Largest Ketchup Packet". The package is expected to be recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records.
Clear Lam Packaging designed the package using Heinz graphics which were enlarged approximately 32 times the normal size. Clear Lam manufactured the specialty films and provided a pre-made pouch standing eight feet tall and four feet wide. The giant packages were made to hold more than 1,000 pounds of ketchup.
Thousands of people showed up at the festive community fund raiser. H.J. Heinz donated 4,000 glass bottles of ketchup. Attendees bought these bottles for $1 to pour into the mammoth package. All proceeds were donated to the Collinsville Christian Academy, which was celebrating its 25th anniversary. Fire destroyed part of a school building last week so the fund-raiser came at a very opportune time.
