Parcel ID System Gets U.S. Postal Service Certification

LOUISVILLE, Ky.—Vitronic Machine Ltd. announced that its Vipac product line has received MASS (Multiline Accuracy Support System) certification by the U.S. Postal Service.

Vipac is a scan tunnel that combines a compact, high-speed, line-scan camera and 3-D volume scanner to produce multi-sided, high-resolution images of standard and oversized parcels.

MASS certification is awarded to text-feature reading, remote video encoding systems and barcode-reading systems to ensure the application of an accurate delivery-point barcode on a shipment. The certification is required for commercial mailers to qualify for automation discounts.
