ORLANDO, FLA-Odin’sself-inventorying Smart Container not only tracks location, it also providesdetailed visibility of items inside the container. Using passive UHF RFIDwithin the container, the data can be transmitted at item level to any ERPsystem over various communication mediums, including satellite, cellular, andactive RFID.
Smart Container was createdfor specific and sensitive Department of Defense (DoD) applications. It wasdesigned to fill a gap in the supply chain when items are put into closedcontainers. It has been refined over the past several years to help fulfill theOffice of Secretary of Defense (OSD) order to suppliers to provide low costpassive RFID (pRFID) tags on assets shipped to the government, and providevisibility from “the factory to the foxhole.”
The Smart Containerautomatically reads tagged items from suppliers as they are loaded or unloadedfrom shipping containers of various sizes and configurations. The items canalso be inventoried from anywhere in the world with the click of the mouse.
“The Smart Container isreinventing RFID,” claims Patrick J. Sweeney II, Odin’s founder. “It is thefirst solution that not only closes the biggest gap in the supply chain, but isdeployable and configurable in under a minute.”
