Nuvera Fuel Cells (Cambridge, Mass.) will supply a PowerTap PTH-12 hydrogen refueling system to The Raymond Corporation to support working fuel cell powered forklifts at its manufacturing facility in Greene, N.Y. The system will refuel a variety of fuel cell powered forklift trucks in an indoor setting.
“The deployment of PowerTap PTH-12 with indoor dispensing represents a major step forward in the commercialization of hydrogen products for the material handling industry,” commented Charlie Myers, Global Market Leader for PowerTap at Nuvera.
Beginning in 2007, Raymond’s Greene, N.Y. manufacturing facility will become a “living lab,” for hydrogen fuel cell modules powering Raymond forklifts in the facility. The goal of the program is to study the performance of hydrogen fuels in electric forklifts and to demonstrate the safety of a hydrogen-fueled forklift environment. Expected outcomes include a working indoor hydrogen refueling station and documented best practices for the design and application of indoor hydrogen refueling systems.
