The Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA), a provider of vendor-neutral certifications for IT professionals, announced that its newest certification, CompTIA RFID+T, is scheduled for worldwide availability on March 28.
CompTIA RFID+ is a professional certification of skills in radio-frequency identification (RFID) technology. The certification was developed with contributions from more than 20 organizations involved in the global RFID industry. Organizations that contributed their expertise in the development of the certification program include: American RFID Solutions; the Association for Automatic Identification and Mobility (AIM Global); Briljent, LLC; DHL Express (USA), Inc.; FC Business Systems; Intermec Technologies Corp.; ASURYS (formerly International Paper's Smart Packaging Business); ODIN technologies; OTA Training; Printronix, Inc.; RFID4U; RFID Focus, RFID Journal; Sparkice; ScanSource, Inc.; Symbol Technologies, Inc.; Texas Instruments Inc.; and Zebra Technologies Corp..
CompTIA RFID+ certification is intended to address a perceived RFID skills shortage. Among the skills the certification exam will test are installation, configuration and maintenance of RFID hardware and device software; site surveys and site analysis; and tag selection, placement and testing. The certification is intended for technology professionals with a minimum of six to twenty-four months of experience in RFID or related data collection technologies.
