LEXINGTON, Ky.--This Sunday, November 2 at 8:00 p.m. EST, there will be brand new boxing star introduced to the world. Tune in to watch a Big Ass Fan dominate the ring in the latest project from Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.
Tim Hill was an aspiring boxer whose boxing dreams collapsed when he broke his back on a construction site. But Hill found a way to stay involved with boxing. He started the Geneva Boxing Team 10 years ago to train kids from ages 8 to 21 to box for free, paying all the expenses himself. Over the years, Hill’s 150-year-old house began to show its age. He dreamed of tearing it down and adding on a small boxing gym to help even more kids in need.
The producers of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition decided to fulfill Hill’s dream and give him the new boxing ring and a complete home makeover. One prominent feature of the boxing gym is a 16-ft. Powerfoil ceiling fan, donated by Big Ass Fans of Lexington, Ky. The industrial-grade Powerfoil will rely on its immense size and aerodynamic design to keep Hill’s students cool and comfortable as they train. And due to the low-horsepower motors used by Big Ass Fans, the Powerfoil costs just pennies-per-hour to operate.
“We are proud to be part of this project with Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” stated Carey Smith, president of Big Ass Fans. “Tim Hill provides a great program for underprivileged kids, and Big Ass Fans is excited to help bring the boxing ring to life with our product.”
Ty Pennington and his team of designers renovated Hill’s house in Geneva, N.Y. in seven days, creating a better space for Hill to continue his work. The Geneva Boxing Team will be duking it out in a brand new boxing gym with one Big Ass Fan to help keep them cool.
