The focus of the protest was Wal-Mart’s opposition to the Employee Free Choice Act (EFCA), also called the card-check bill, which would make it easier for employees to form unions.
The gathering of more than 100 people included warehouse workers, clergy, community members and area students. Warehouse Workers United, a new organization of warehouse workers located in the Inland Empire region of southern California, helped organize the protest. Warehouse Workers United is supported by Change to Win, a coalition of unions throughout the U.S.
The warehouse serves Wal-Mart stores in southern California.
