NAPLES, Fla.—The booked orders index for February was up 2% from January.
However, when compared to February 2008, orders were down 32%. The index is developed and issued by the Conveyor Equipment Manufacturers Association (CEMA).
Using 1990 as its base (100), index figures for February 2009 billed sales (shipments) was 116, up 6 points (5%) from January of this year, but 21% lower, at 146, in February 2008.
Included in the February billed sales index were 169 for bulk handling equipment and 107 for unit handling equipment. The 12-month index for billed sales was 142 in February. Index in February represents a decrease of 2% from January 2009’s 12-month index of 145.
