FUTURE ELECTRONICS has awarded WITRON a contract for the implementation of an automated material handling system at its brand new U.S. distribution center near Memphis.
On February 5, 2003 Mississippi Governor Ronnie Musgrove, Southaven Mayor Greg Davis and other officials broke ground for the distribution center for Future Electronics in Southaven, Mississippi. Future Electronics, the world's third-largest distributor of electronic components, is building a $45 million, 250,000-square-foot facility on 26 acres in Southaven, Mississippi that will bring 250 jobs to the county. During the opening ceremony, Future Electronics chief financial officer Pierre Guilbault said this new state of the art facility will be a "showcase" for their company!
Future Electronics has selected WITRON as the systems integrator for the logistics design of the facility including implementation, ramp-up and service and maintenance. WITRON's automated solution is based on WITRON's "Order Picking System" (OPS). Key drivers for the decision to go with a WITRON system were a significant increase in efficiency and quality and high ROI.
