Old Dominion Freight Line, Inc. has opened new service centers in Pensacola, Fla. and in Orange Calif. to better serve its markets in those states. The 24-door terminal in Pensacola is intended to bring the company closer to its customers along the Florida panhandle and in eastern Alabama. It will also enable the company to reduce its service times for customers in the region.
Meanwhile, the 64-door facility in Orange will help the company keep up with increased freight traffic in southern California. It was strategically located near railroad heads, ports and highways, including Interstate 5 and California Highways 22, 55, 57 and 91.
These additions are part of a $90-120 million investment Old Dominion is committing to real estate purchases and expansion projects nationwide in 2012. Already this year, the company has opened service centers in Duluth, Minnesota; Orange, California; and Benson, Minnesota. It has also expanded its presence in Corpus Christi, Texas, and Erie, Pennsylvania, in addition to opening new drayage facilities in Oakland, California, and Seattle, Washington.
