Nissan Forklift President Mark Akabori the retirement of Larry Borre, vice president of customer satisfaction, to be effective March 31, 2004. Akabori commended Borre for his outstanding contributions to NFC in a career that has spanned 45 years of continuous service, first with Barrett Industrial Trucks and now with Nissan Forklift Corp. (NFC).

Borre joined Barrett in 1959, rising steadily through the organization, holding various sales and marketing positions including the presidency in 1987of Barrett of Chicago, a wholly owned dealership. Upon NFC’s purchase of Barrett Industrial Trucks in 1988, Borre moved into the new organization where he now leads the aftermarket activities as vice president.

Borre’s professional career has touched hundreds of lives within the material handling industry through his associations with both NFC and the Industrial Truck Association, the industry’s leading trade organization.

With 15 years on the Industrial Truck Association (ITA) Board, Borre was the first ITA president elected to a two-year term and has served on the Executive Committee since 1992. Bill Montwieler, ITA’s executive director, also acknowledged Borre’s leadership.

It was during Borre’s tenure as ITA president that the groundbreaking legislation for operator training was signed into law on December 1, 1998. Prior to holding the office of ITA president, Borre was also instrumental in orchestrating the mutual exchange of information among the presidents of ITA’s sister Japanese, European and American organizations, which eventually led to the highly acclaimed President’s Forum held annually.
