IRVINE, Calif.—Toyota Material Handling USA Inc. (TMHU) will show its new line of tow tractors at the Aviation Industry Expo, Mar. 18-20, in Dallas.
The trade show focuses on aviation maintenance, ground support, safety and fixed-base operator services.
The newly launched heavy-duty AC electric tow tractor, available in 3,300- and 4,000-pound drawbar pull capacities, features an AC drive system and controller area network (CAN-bus) communication technology for control of truck functions. A digital display with hour meter shows performance parameters, battery discharge and diagnostic information.
In addition, the tow tractor line features MOSFET controller technology, which, TMHU says, offers “excellent acceleration and top travel speed—loaded or unloaded—as well as smooth speed control.” A Power Keep function allows the tractors to maintain their battery charge longer than standard DC-powered tow tractors, according to the company.
TMHU will also display its diesel tow tractor models at the Aviation Industry Expo. The diesel models are available with 4,400- and 5,500-pound drawbar pull capacities and feature a 2.4-liter Toyota 1DZ-III diesel engine. The engines in the 2TD20 and 2TD25 tow tractors have been certified to EPA’s Interim Tier IV standards, which results in 26% less particulate matter than today’s required Tier III levels, according to TMHU.
