The first session, Sept. 7-9, will take place at International Paper Smart Packaging’s Customer Solution Center, a 25,000 square foot, non-temperature controlled, real-world warehouse environment where visitors experience the demonstration of value-based RFID-enabled solutions for the supply chain. Mark Brown, project manager for systems and services at International Paper Smart Packaging is the lead instructor for the course in Memphis as well as three other courses offered Oct. 5-7 at Sun Microsystems, Dallas, Tex.; Nov. 2-4 at Checkpoint, Thorofare, N.J.; and Dec. 7-9 at Printronix in Irvine, Calif. Subject matter experts from GlobeRanger, ID Velocity, OTA Training and Precisia will work with Mark to teach RFID Journal University.
“RFID Journal has been offering RFID training for three years,” says Brown, “and this year they selected the most comprehensive, vendor-neutral, hands-on RFID training available by partnering with OTA Training.”
International Paper Smart Packaging began a hands-on RFID training partnership with OTA earlier this year. Since then it has been offering monthly interactive RFID training courses that challenge and educate.
Day one of the RFID University will provide an overview of RFID systems. Trainers share best practices learned during implementations. The day will end with a hands-on tour of the Customer Solution Center.
Day two will cover the business case for deploying RFID and the business processes that can be impacted through deploying RFID. Instructors will cover in detail the hardware and data management issues that many end users have faced.
Finally, day three will focus on the steps to a successful RFID implementation. Attendees will work with tags, readers and other hardware. They are invited to test their own products.
