U.S. Trade Activity Steady in June

Analysts at Panjiva, a source for information on global trade and overseas suppliers, report that trade activity was steady in June.Specifically, the number of waterborne shipments coming into the U.S. experienced a 2% month-over-month increase from May to June. Here’s a sampling of previous years’ May to June changes for comparison: -1% in 2011, +2% in 2010, -2% in 2009, -5% in 2008.

The number of global manufacturers shipping to the U.S. went up slightly — +0.4% — from May to June. May-to-June changes in previous years: -1% in 2011, +1% in 2010, -1% in 2009, and -2% in 2008.
