Logistics Management Solutions (LMS, St. Louis), a non-asset-based third party logistics provider, has been selected to provide transportation optimization and management services to Presence From Innovation (PFI), a St. Louis-based designer and manufacturer of merchandising equipment.
LMS will direct PFI’s ground freight, which entails less-than-truckload (LTL) and truckload shipments moving among North American shipping points, most of which are retail outlets. LMS will use its transportation management system, TOTAL, to build and execute optimized ship plans using PFI’s raw order data. Once freight is dispatched, authorized users can access TOTAL to obtain online shipment statuses and performance reports.
A majority of PFI freight is comprised of LTL shipments that can be consolidated into less costly truckload shipments. TOTAL’s optimization engine is designed to pragmatically evaluate order data and identify opportunities for freight consolidation, aggregation, pooling and cross-docking, among other cost-cutting strategies. The engine also includes parameters to ensure freight is optimized without compromising shippers’ safety and service directives.
