BEDFORD PARK, Ill.–Wausau Paper announced the location of Bedford Park, Ill., as the location for its new printing and writing distribution hub.
According to the company, the southwestern suburb of Chicago was chosen for its proximity to key Midwest commercial printing markets and merchant distribution partners.
The Nexus warehousing and logistics facility features energy-efficient lighting and distribution technology, the ability to utilize intermodal rail, and strategic load consolidation programs.
Transitional operations are expected to begin shortly, while the company estimates it will be fully operational by mid-2009. Once up to speed, the facility will allow for overnight and same-day delivery service to be available to an increased number of customers.
Nexus headed up Wausau’s Northeast distribution center in Allentown, Pa. last spring. The opening of the Midwest distribution hub, along with Wausau’s three other regional distribution centers, will enable delivery within 24 hours to most top print markets within the U.S.
“The new distribution hub will reduce transportation and operating costs, helping us to maintain and achieve further important financial targets for our business,” said Daniel R. Trettin, senior vice president for printing and writing.
