Martin-Brower Co. (Rosemont, Ill., www.martin-brower.com) announced plans to open a new distribution center and warehouse in Mason City, Iowa.
Reportedly the largest supplier of products to McDonald’s restaurants, Martin-Bower delivers more than 200 million cases of food and paper products to 9,000 restaurants in the U.S., Canada and Latin America each year. The DC is expected to open by the end of the year.
Mason City Council is considering a proposed incentive plan for the company that would include an $112,000 “forgivable” loan if the company creates 70 jobs within two years and maintains those jobs for at least five years. If jobs are not retained, the company would be required to pay the city $1,750 per job that is not created or lost. The company would also receive a five-year tax rebate of 100% the first year, 80% the second year, 60% the third year and 50% in each of the last two years.
