DSW Inc. (Columbus, Ohio, www.DSWshoes.com) announced plans to build a new corporate campus in Columbus, Ohio, to accommodate ongoing sales growth. Designs call for a new 150,000 sq.-ft. office to be combined with an existing 700,000 sq.-ft. distribution center.
The new campus, expected to be ready for occupancy by spring 2007, will utilize a former warehouse facility as the office building's foundation. Architects hope to transform the interior with spacious 22-ft. ceilings, exposed brick, light wood and large windows and skylights to maximize natural light. Amenities will include a café, coffee bar, outdoor seating and recreation space.
"We are pleased to have the opportunity to renovate an existing structure. As a result, the project is more attractive in terms of both budget and timeline," said Peter Horvath, DSW's president. "Overall, our new campus is designed to reflect the DSW culture, contributing to a productive environment that fosters creativity and resourcefulness. This will be a place our team can proudly call the home of the DSW brand."
