(Columbus, Ohio, 31 March 2003) - Exel, the global leader in supply chain management, will coordinate warehousing and distribution operations in support of The Coca-Cola Company's supply chain network in Mexico.
Exel will receive incoming product from manufacturers at its Cedros campus facility, north of Mexico City. From this location, Exel will unload product, manage inventory and distribute shipments to 79 Coca-Cola bottlers throughout the country.
"The Cedros campus will play an important role in Coca-Cola's distribution needs," said Jose Orozco, Exel's director of business development, Mexico. "Building on our operational strengths, we can achieve a streamlined supply chain and consistently reliable distribution services."
According to Orozco, Coca-Cola benefits from Exel's established in-country logistics solution that ensures product is warehoused strategically and delivered in a timely and cost-efficient manner.
Under Exel's campus model, Exel operates as the single point of contact in local, regional and global markets for companies needing flexible and cost-effective access to Exel's full complement of supply chain solutions. These solutions include warehousing, distribution management, airfreight and seafreight, customs management, road and rail transportation, packaging and reverse logistics.
The addition of Coca-Cola to the Cedros campus adds to Exel's client roster there, which ranges from privately held companies to publicly traded multinational corporations targeting the automotive, healthcare, retail and consumer markets.
