CHEP pallets will transport Del Monte bananas and melons from facilities in Puerto Limón, Costa Rica and Puerto Barrios, Guatemala, to supermarkets, retailers, club stores, wholesalers and foodservice distributors throughout the United States and Canada.
According to Franklin Associates’ "Solid Waste Analysis and Life-Cycle Inventory Of Pallet Systems, 2006 Update,” use of the CHEP pooling system instead of “limited-use whitewood pallets” can reduce solid waste generation by more than 8.3 million pounds per year, decrease greenhouse gas emissions by 58% and save enough energy to power nearly 700 homes with electricity.
