West Liberty Foods (West Liberty, Iowa), a manufacturer and supplier of sliced meat and poultry products, announced that it will build a new facility in Utah. The plant will include a 67,000 sq.-ft. slicing facility with 10 individual production cells and a 70,000 sq.-ft. log fabrication/ready-to-eat chicken operation. Slaughter will not take place on the premises. At full capacity, the plant will process more than 1.6 million lbs. of protein per week and will employ 500 people.
“This is an exciting time for our company as we branch out to the western marketplace,” said Ed Garrett, president and CEO. “The ready-to-eat chicken line will provide us the opportunity to introduce and service new product lines to our current customers.”
