UXBRDIGE, MA – AC Technology, a member of the Lenze Group, announces the release of asynchronous control with its new Model 940 PositionServo Drive.
According to company officials, customers will benefit from asynchronous control for two reasons. First, the 940 PositionServo, described as a high-performing digital servo drive with a simple, yet robust motion controller, is now compatible with Lenze/AC Tech’s G-motion line of asynchronous gear motors. Customers therefore get the advantage of a single source for their closed-loop vector solutions.
The second benefit of asynchronous control to the Model 940 PositionServo is that it allows customers to continue using asynchronous motors, and to drive them with a full-featured servo drive, thus combining cost-effectiveness with higher levels of precision and accuracy.
“You can now get servo performance for the cost of induction control,” says Deb Moline, Marketing Manager, who adds, “For the typical induction motor user, that means additional programmability, and multiple inputs/outputs; the Model 940 uses a BASIC-like motion-programming language to provide high-performance indexing and positioning, but it can also run in traditional velocity or torque modes.”
The Electronic Programmable Module or EPM, a specially designed removable memory chip, is another innovative feature of the Model 940. With the EPM, servo control parameters and motion control programs can be transferred from one drive to another in seconds – even without power applied. The simple EPM concept puts commissioning at a whole new level – AC Tech officials describe the Model 940 as the easiest-to-use drive in the market today.
