Roadway Express handled the careful delivery of a Hammacher Schlemmer ConferenceBike to the Fine Living Network for its show, "The Genuine Article." Hosted by Gordon Elliot, this special episode dedicated to catalog shopping for the holidays will air on Saturday, December 4, 2004, at 3 p.m. EST.

The unique ConferenceBike can transport up to seven people at one time. American artist and inventor, Eric Staller, created the bicycle to be what he terms, "a symbol for community, a tool for bringing people together." The bicycle features seven sets of pedals that propel it forward via a patented transmission system. The ConferenceBike weighs 400 lbs. and measures 4'H x 6'W x 8'L. The cost is $18,000.

Hammacher Schlemmer used Roadway Express Sealed Divider Service for this out-of-the-ordinary delivery. The patent-pending Sealed Divider Service provides extra protection in transit for less-than-truckload (LTL) shipments, offering a shield against the normal rigors of freight handling and eliminating co-mingling of freight. A shipment is secured, from pickup to destination, behind a tamper-resistant barrier in the trailer, and the shipper pays only for the space used.
