Purolator Expands In US

The small package and freight forwarding subsidiary of Canada’s Purolator Courier Ltd. will offer US shippers several ways to consolidate intra-US small package shipments.

Purolator has operated service between the US and Canada and will begin offering “Next-Day AM Express Canada” to major markets with next-day delivery by noon.

Its US delivery service will offer five different options, each zone based. Those services include Next Day 12:00 PM, Next Day 3:00 PM, 2nd Day, Ground (1-6 days), and Next Day AM Express Canada.

The new headquarters for Purolator USA will be in Raleigh, NC. Purolator USA offers a range of services from small package to LTL and freight forwarding.

Purolator USA says it has doubled the size of its US branch network in the past 12 months. Purolator Courier originally began US domestic operations in 1947 and the brand was active in the US up until a wave of industry consolidations in the late 1980s. The company notes that Purolator continued to operate in Canada and, in 1998, bought back the right to use the Purolator name in the US. The company was reincorporated, and in recent years has focused on cross-border services.
