Old Dominion Expands Again

Jan. 6, 2005
Southeast-based regional less-than-truckload carrier Old Dominion Freight Line (ODFL) made its second announcement since the end of November 2004 that it is expanding it service capabilities

Southeast-based regional less-than-truckload carrier Old Dominion Freight Line (ODFL) made its second announcement since the end of November 2004 that it is expanding it service capabilities. The earlier announcement on Nov. 29, 2004 stated the company would open a 20-door service center on a 6.2-acre site in Modesto, Calif.

On Jan. 4, 2005, Old Dominion added to that news saying it would complete the purchase of Wichita Southeast Kansas Transit (WSKT) by mid January. WSKT, which reported $68 million revenues in the fiscal year ended Sept. 30, 2004, operates 43 service centers in 10 states.

Old Dominion, which operated 139 service centers before the acquisition, said the addition of WSKT will enhance its offerings in the Midwest and South Central region as well as adding its 41st state (Nebraska). ODFL now provides full-state coverage in 31 states, having added Kansas and Iowa through this deal.
