VMSA looks to start work with initial customers next month. An amalgam of Menlo Worldwide Forwarding, Vector Supply Chain Management and Menlo Worldwide Logistics, individual customers won’t be direct VMSA members. Shippers, forwarders, brokers and other users of global ocean services will derive benefits through dealings with the individual supply chain service companies that continue to operate under the Menlo Worldwide brand.

VMSA seeks to help ocean carriers balance their volumes, resulting in favorable rates for shipping customers. The Association is developing fresh IT solutions for managing service contracts. It promises rapid turnaround on requests for quotes.

VMSA also promises “such value-added services as supply chain security assessment, contract management and strategic planning, and network modeling and engineering based on multiple customer profiles of volume”
