Maersk Line will increase prices for a standard 20-foot container by $160 and for a standard 40-foot container by $200. The change was effective January 1, 2008.

Maersk recently undertook a reorganization that separated its logistics business, container businesses, and the ERS Railways business into standalone divisions.

Maersk has been troubled by efforts to integrate the P&O Nedlloyd container operations it acquired in 2005. Various reports indicate the container line's traffic volumes have lagged industry performance in some key lanes.
